Classroom Management:
Maintaining organization is the backbone of an effective classroom. At the base of an effectively organized classroom, is a safe and positive learning environment. A learning environment that provides opportunity for all students, gives equity to all students. A teacher must act as a facilitator in the classroom and develop positive relationships with students to form a bond with them. Additionally, I believe inclusion in the classroom is a must, when working with students with any sort of disability. I further expand on my classroom management philosophies in the file below.

Lifelong Learners:
Just because a teacher is no longer a student in school, does not mean that teacher should stop learning. As a teacher, I strive to always be a lifelong learner. Being a lifelong learner can involve many aspects such as my content area, technology, teaching practices, etc. A teacher should never stop learning, they should always be continuing to learn new ways in order to improve themselves as well as their techniques. Below I have a more in depth look at why being a lifelong learner is important for me as an educator.

Learners Learn Differently:
Not every student is going to learn best, the same way as another student. So, being able to identify the different ways a student learns and which way can best help a student, is key in an effective classroom. A student's learning style can vary, based on their god-given ability, as well as their social, ethnic, and cultural background. The cultural diversity of each student can impact how receptive they will be to a particular teaching strategy. I believe having an understanding of a student's background, and knowledge of their background, will lead to being able to differentiate learning strategies for all students. Being aware of the cultural diversity in my classroom will help me have a more effective and equitable learning environment. Below I have attached more in depth thoughts on diversity in the classroom and being an effective teacher.

Teaching and Learning:
I encourage you to view a 12 day unit plan I created for an Algebra II class on Quadratic Functions and Equations. In this unit plan, I integrated technology as well as different teaching strategies, with a quiz at day 5 and a test at the very end of the unit.
